VCT – Violence and Crime Taskforce (January)

Inspector Sally‑Anne Turner reports over 200 positive outcomes already this year, demonstrating exceptional output from VCT officers despite high demand and abstractions.

Key highlights include:

High‑harm repeat offenders charged and remanded for burglary, shoplifting series, robbery, kidnap/attempted kidnap and firearms‑linked violence.

Predatory and stalking offenders identified, charged, and remanded, including work involving Sexual Harm Prevention Order breaches.

Retail crime series across Lewisham successfully tackled, with offenders charged for multiple thefts, criminal damage, and breach of conditions.

Investigative Excellence – officers demonstrated exceptional effort including complex phone analysis, building timelines of evidence, coordinating across units, and working extended hours to secure charges.

CBO Applications & Partnership Working – Several cases included Criminal Behaviour Order applications and effective joint operations with proactive units.

This month’s results underline the VCT’s adaptability, determination, and strong investigative standards in tackling high‑volume and high‑harm criminality.

Lewisham officers continue to deliver strong results across both CID and VCT teams, protecting victims and targeting high‑harm offenders. January has seen a wave of successful charges and convictions across violence, weapons, sexual offences, burglary, robbery and retail crime. Teams have shown outstanding professionalism, resilience, and dedication, achieving over 200 positive outcomes and safeguarding vulnerable victims whilst bringing prolific offenders before the courts.
